Who We Are
Layton Home Builders is a full-service design and build construction company based in Chowan County, North Carolina. The Layton family works hard to ensure that each client receives the best experience possible.
In 1990, Mike Layton, a second generation carpenter, began Mike Layton's Vinyl Siding Incorporated. Over the next thirteen years, he fostered a reputation as dependable, hard working, and honest, allowing his business to expand into framing and trim work.
Mike’s oldest son, Chris Layton, earned an Associates degree in Architectural Technology from Pitt Community College in 2001, and graduated from East Carolina University in 2002 with a degree in Construction Management. Chris joined his father in creating Layton Home Builders, a full service design and build team in January of 2003.
A.J. Layton, Mike’s youngest son, has joined the family business, bringing a degree in Business Administration from Campbell University.

Layton Home Builders provides the best in new home construction from concept to construction. The design-build concept means that the designer and project manager will be onsite together to ensure that your home is built to specification. This approach eliminates miscommunication between design and implementation. This gives LHB a definitive advantage over contractors who must interpret blueprints without the benefit of working with the designer.
Even if you already have blueprints, there is no substitute for having the designer onsite to make sure the plans are followed correctly.

Do I need to have plans already picked out?
No, we provide in-house designs.
What if I already have a set of plans I like?
That's not a problem. Our designer can sit down with you and look at what you like and then make changes accordingly.
How long does it take from start to finish to build a house?
Building times vary tremendously according to size and design. However, we can look at your plans and the changes you want to make and estimate accordingly.
What is the cost per square foot to build a new home?
The cost per square foot varies from house to house, therefore, it is difficult to give a flat per square foot price. Depending on the extent of accessories and amenities within the home the cost per square foot could change dramatically.
